The Iowa Chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries announces the 2011-2012

Public Relations/Marketing Award.

This award is intended to support creating and implementing a public relations or marketing program in an academic or research library in Iowa. The Award provides a cash grant of $500 to support implementation of the proposed project.

Winners have 12 months to spend the grant monies, and are requested to write an article describing the implementation of the project for the Iowa ACRL Newsletter.  In addition, the winner is encouraged to submit a presentation proposal for the Iowa ACRL Spring conference detailing the project following implementation.

No library may receive the award more than once within 10 years.

The proposal must be submitted by a member of the Iowa ACRL chapter. Submissions due July 31, 2011, to MIber@cornellcollege.edu

Announcement of the winner will occur at the ILA/ACRL business meeting during the ILA Annual Conference.

The Awards Committee of ILA/ACRL announces the availability of a scholarship to attend the Iowa-ACRL Spring Conference, March 18, 2011, at Central College in Pella, Iowa. The scholarship will cover the registration fee and up to $100 in travel, hotel, and meal expenses.

Applicants must be either:

1) Paid members of ILA/ACRL, working full-time in an Iowa academic or research library, and either:

  • Attending their first ILA/ACRL Spring Conference, or
  • Have worked in an Iowa academic or research library for fewer than three years.

 OR

2) Library science students and/or support staff working in an Iowa academic or research library. Student and support staff applicants do not have to be paid members of ILA/ACRL.

1)      Paid members of ILA/ACRL, working full-time in an Iowa academic or research library and either:

  • Attending their first ILA conference OR
  • Have worked in an Iowa academic or research library for fewer than three years

 

2)      Library science students and/or support personnel working in an Iowa academic or research library.  Student and support personnel applicants to not have to be paid members of ILA/ACRL.

The Awards Committee of ILA/ACRL announces the availability of a scholarship to attend the Iowa-ACRL Spring Conference, March 3, 2008, at St. Ambrose University, Davenport, Iowa. The scholarship will cover the registration fee and up to $100 in travel, hotel, and meal expenses.

Applicants must be:

1) Paid members of ILA/ACRL, working fulltime in an Iowa academic or research library, and either:

  • Attending their first ILA/ACRL Spring Conference OR
  • Have worked in an Iowa academic or research library for fewer than three years.

2) Library science students and/or support personnel working in an Iowa academic or research library. Student and support personnel applicants do not have to be paid members of ILA/ACRL.

Announcing the ILA/ACRL’s Research Award

The Iowa ACRL Awards committee announces a $500 grant to be awarded to an ILA/ACRL Chapter member for a presented or published scholarly work. Please consider submitting your own work, or nominating a colleague for this award! The following rules and qualifications apply:

  • A qualifying presented paper must be text-based and have been delivered at a regional, national or international conference.
  • A qualifying published paper is to have appeared in a scholarly journal.
  • A qualifying book is to be scholarly in nature.
  • The subject matter of the material submitted may be on any scholarly topic.
  • The papers should have been delivered or published since October of 2009.
  • Power point slides, video or audio submissions will not be considered.
  • Entries may be self-submitted or nominated.
  • Entries will be considered by the Awards Committee on the basis of a blind ranking process.
  • If the committee finds that none of the entries are meritorious, it may decide not to make an award.
  • The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2012. The results of this process will be announced at the ILA/ACRL Spring Conference in May 2012.
