The ILA Conference begins next week and I hope to see a lot of academic librarians there! ILA/ACRL had the idea to bring in a speaker to talk about generational differences and as a result, we are pleased to promot the Thursday morning keynote speaker from Bridgeworks! In collaboration with the Iowa State and UNI Libraries, the University of Iowa Libraries is hosting an all-day ACRL workshop: Building Your Research Data Management Toolkit: Integrating RDM into Your Liaison Work. The workshop will be held at the Terry Trueblood Lodge in Iowa City, from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM on Friday, November 18.
The ILA-ACRL Awards Committee is pleased to announce this year's winner of the ILA-ACRL Fall Conference Scholarship, Kate Thompson. Kate is a University of Alabama MLIS student and University of Iowa alum. Kate's award will be announced at the Thursday morning opening session of the ILA conference. Please welcome Kate to the conference and introduce yourself!
Annah Hackett joined the Grand View University Library as Campus Engagement and Instruction Librarian on the first day of fall semester classes, August 29, 2016. Annah is a graduate of University of Wisconsin-Madison's iSchool where she served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, Head Student Librarian at Woodman Astronomy Library, an Assistant Tour Guide for the Wisconsin Historical Museum Education Department, and Circulation Desk Worker at the Ebling Library for the Health Sciences. She also completed a Learning and Information Literacy Instruction Practicum experience as part of her graduate studies, and served as President of UW Madison's ALA-Student Chapter.
Most recently, Annah comes to us from the University of Idaho where her work focused on instruction, reference, and serving as liaison to the International Studies and Political Science departments. Annah was instrumental in establishing, and also chairs, the Idaho Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee, and is a 2016 ALA Emerging Leader.
Annah says, "I am so excited to work closely with the students here! That is my favorite part about Grand View--that you get the opportunity to work one-on-one with students."
