Hello Iowa ACRL!  Many of you are probably working on plans for what you can do from home in case COVID-19 impacts your college or university. This can be a challenge,  but we’ve received some great recommendations from ILA?ACRL members that you can see below. What other things can you think of to add to the list that might help your fellow academic librarians?

  • Update policies and procedures
  • Work on social media posts
-Start that podcast you’ve been thinking about!
  • Update libguides
  • Writing legislators about how libraries serve the community
  • Collection development plan update
  • Check out social media for tips and resources, including suggestions for teaching and conducting research consultations virtually. #CovidClassroom and #CovidLibrary are two twitter hashtags; there is also now a Discord community COVID4GLAM
  • the Rare Book and Manuscript section of ACRL changed the topic of their 3/11 twitter chat (#RBMSIOC) to distance learning and created an accompanying forum thread

ILA/ACRL is exploring ways for members to keep in touch and share updates and resources during the continually evolving pandemic response. We'll continue to share resources and updates on social media and here on the blog.
