In one of my final acts as President of ILA/ACRL, I’m proud to announce the Executive Board has drafted and approved a statement affirming our commitment to diversity and inclusion:

A short excerpt of the statement:
“This statement reaffirms the ILA/ACRL Executive Board's commitment to diversity and inclusion. The ILA/ACRL Executive Board supports the efforts of faculty and staff in Iowa’s academic and research libraries as they work to cultivate safe spaces, inclusive services, and diverse collections. We support our members in welcoming students and researchers to their libraries to seek support and to share their ideas by engaging in civil discourse with a spirit of generous listening. Our renewed commitment to this work is needed now more than ever, and we encourage academic/research library professionals to champion efforts for diversity and inclusion within their libraries and for their patrons.”

Many thanks to all the members of the Executive Board for inspiring, discussing, and working hard on this statement. As always, if you have comments or suggestions for the Executive Board, please contact me or another member.

Thank you,

Sara Scheib
President, ILA/ACRL
