Cyd Dyer

Cyd Dyer from Simpson College, is currently the longest-standing member of ILA-ACRL, at 38 years! Below she offers a few memories and thoughts about the benefits of being an active member. Thank you for your dedication, Cyd!

"I attended my first conference as a student in 1978. As new cataloger at Simpson the same year, I became active in the group working on conference planning and local arrangements. Five years later, as College Librarian, I continued working with my good friends around the state on academic library issues. ILA/ACRL was particularly supportive when I served as ILA President in 1989. I encourage the new members to get involved as soon as possible. You met wonderful colleagues, get excellent professional development, and keep up with trends through newsletters and blogs. Soon you will be hosting a spring conference or reaching out from the nominating committee. 38 years and counting!"
