ACRL Webinar: Accessibility in Action

ILA ACRL's Professional Development Committee is proud to host Accessibility in Action, an ACRL e-learning webinar on this Wednesday, May 18th from 1-2:30 p.m. at Drake University's Cowles Library and the University of Iowa's Main Library

Webinar Description:

Recent Office of Civil Rights settlements involving higher education are prompting institutions to reexamine electronic and information technology accessibility. In this webcast, the presenters will review the impacts of these settlements and changes in the law; how to ensure libraries instructional content is accessible; review Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its role in accessibility; and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) and how library vendors are demonstrating their products meet key requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The presenters will also provide attendees with a list of related resources to utilize at their institutions. Full information, including learning outcomes, is available here.

Drake details: The webinar will be shown in Cowles Library Room 45. Cowles Library is located on the north side of University Avenue and 28th Street in Des Moines, Visitor parking is available on University Avenue and the surrounding streets. Enter the library through the north doors, go down the half-flight of stairs and through the double doors to the right. University of Iowa details: Main Library is located at 125 W. Washington Street Room 2032 (second floor, southeast corner.)  Enter through the middle of the building to get to the upper floors. Parking is available to the south of the Main Library (metered so not recommended) or Capitol Street Ramp (City owned) or IMU Ramp (UI owned).
