THE ILA/ACRL MENTORING PROGRAM seeks to provide guidance, support, and insight to new academic librarians throughout Iowa.  Academic librarians experiencing new and possibly unfamiliar job responsibilities are also encouraged to apply.  The program is also open to non-academic librarians wishing to make a career change. Experienced academic librarians can share their professional knowledge and increase their leadership skills as mentors. The program will allow for an exchange of ideas between mentors and mentees in a collegial, collaborative, and confidential environment.

Membership in ILA/ACRL or ALA/ACRL is not required; however, it is strongly encouraged.

Participants must agree to make a year-long commitment to the program and be employed in the State of Iowa. The program runs from October 2011 to October 2012. Mentors also agree to participate in a one-time training session.

If you are an experienced academic librarian interested in sharing your knowledge and expertise, please read this: MENTOR FAQ

If you are a new academic librarian interested in networking and exploring your new profession OR if you are a non-academic librarian interested in pursuing an new career in academic librarianship, please read this: MENTEE FAQ
