Bold Moves: New Connections

ILA/ACRL Spring Conference
Friday, March 20, 2015
Drake University

Iowa academic libraries are continually challenged by space limitations, restrictive budgets, and the ever-changing needs and expectations of library stakeholders. This spring, the ILA/ACRL conference brings us together to highlight innovative academic library programs, partnerships and services across our state. What bold moves has your library made, what new connections have been forged, and what rewards have you reaped?

The planning committee will be evaluating the proposals based on relevance to the conference theme, interest to the academic library community, uniqueness, organization and clarity, adaptability to other libraries, and demonstrated knowledge of the subject.  The committee is particularly interested in sessions that address any of the following aspects, though other topics are also of value:

  • Reaching out!  How did you bring in new partners or new constituencies?
  • Daring to dream!  Where does your library want to be next year? In five years?
  • Designing what matters!  How do you lay the groundwork to bring a bold move to fruition?
  • Rethinking roles!  Did new connections among the staff of a library create a way for new ideas to develop and flourish?
  • Measuring success!  How did you demonstrate that your risks led to rewards?
