ILA/ACRL Spring Conference 2008
Activating Advocacy: The Many Roles of Academic Libraries
Monday, March 3, 2008
St. Ambrose University, Davenport Iowa
Dr. Roberto Ibarra is the Keynote Speaker for this year’s conference. He is Associate Professor of Sociology and Associate Director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation UNM Center for Health Policy at the University of New Mexico.
The title of Dr. Ibarra’s presentation is “Context Diversity and the Role of Academic Libraries.” His presentation will expand upon and update the invited paper, “A Place to Belong: The Library as Prototype for Context Diversity,” that he presented at the 2005 national ACRL Conference. Dr. Ibarra is well known as a provocative speaker and leading researcher on diversity initiatives in higher education. He has established a new and fascinating vision for academic libraries as prototypes of context diversity. The conference planning committee is pleased that Dr. Ibarra’s keynote presentation will begin a day-long discussion of the multifaceted aspects of outreach and advocacy for academic libraries.
This year’s conference is partially supported by a grant from the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) for programming that focuses on campus advocacy issues.
The Conference Committee looks forward to your attendance and participation at the Conference.
